About Broadacres
In 1952, retired fireman and WWII Air
Force Veteran William Stark Brown decided to open part of his beautiful
3 acres to love and nuture the children of the Palos Verdes area.
Starting with small classses made up of 6 children, Broadacres quickly
grew to hold 8, then 12 children. Today, the preschool holds two
sessions with 24 children each. The preschool is a family institution,
with Brown’s wife, Bettie, and her daughter Gayle owning and directing
the school to this day. Along with a total of 7 staff members, Bettie
and Gayle work hard every day to keep Mr. Brown’s vision living strong
through the delicate care they provide to the children who attend. Our
dedicated staff believes that each child grows and develops at his or
her own level. We want to instill in each child a love for learning to
set the stage for academic success in the years to come.
Broadacres is open to children from
ages 2 1/2 to 5 years. School runs from 9 to 11:30 in the morning. A
session for 3-year-olds is held Tuesday and Thursday mornings, while
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are reserved for the 4-year-old
students. Parents may chose to enroll their children in either 2, 3, or
5 days of school. Children must be pottytrained upon starting school.
